It's an interesting idea, although we found that it only illuminated one half of the storage unit at a time, with the shelves' backs and wine rack remaining in shadow. It's more of a convenience than an energy-saving invention.
Another cool feature is Smart Fresh Air, which uses Wi-Fi to learn your habits of use over three weeks and establishes a daily schedule. This pre-cools the fridge before you use it (we discovered this to be effective in the morning while we're getting the milk bottles ready) to maintain an optimal temperature and minimize energy use.
The InstaView Door-in-Door also shows the contents of a second internal compartment that contains beverages and food items for easy access, along with an LED strip light of 24cm to ensure everything is organized and well-lit. You can access this compartment through both the InstaView pane and the main door of the fridge. We did find that it was much easier to load items in the top balcony via the Door-in-Door than from the main cabinet, however, that's not a major issue.
These LG fridge freezers also have other features that help keep food fresher longer. For instance Surround Cooling, and Pure N Fresh. These combine traditional rear and front cooling outlets with the ability to deodorize, and a fan that actively forces air into and around the fridge shelves. The LFXS30796D also comes with a UVNano dispenser that emits a brief burst of UV light every hour to fight bacteria, while a "freshness sensor' alerts you when it's time for replenishing the fridge contents.
The LFXCS27596S is a French door refrigerator with 33 cubic feet of capacity, while the LRDCS2603S has a 26-cubic-foot top-freezer design. Both models feature InstaView Door in Door technology in addition to several other innovations.
